Poppy Campaign Report 2024

Thank you to everyone that volunteered with our campaign this year. The community stepped forward and made this year’s campaign a successful one. To all those who looked after the behind-the-scenes tasks you were a tremendous help in lessening the workload, making the campaign easier to handle. To all those willing to go out canvassing regardless of the weather, thank you. You are the face the public sees, and you represented our Legion with great integrity. Thank you to the over 100 businesses that allowed us to place our poppy boxes at their location. Thank you to the 11 businesses that permitted us to canvas out front. Thank you to the businesses and individuals who donated directly to the poppy fund during our campaign and throughout the year.

Without everyone participating, however they are able, we would not have been nearly as successful as we were. We are extremely grateful to those that went above and beyond to make sure that the three weekends we were out canvassing brought in more than we anticipated. The third weekend was helped by the radio announcement at Canoe FM, thank you, asking for volunteers to canvas, whether members or not, which helped us finish strong.

All outstanding SUFs have been approved, completed and paid for.

The big one was Nick and everyone’s hard work with the Sherman Tank. Thank you to all the volunteers that helped with this project: including the companies that donated their time and/or supplies, the individuals that donated their time, and donations from the general public who supported the project in various ways. With all the funds that came in and the costs kept low due to the volunteers, the Poppy Fund did not need to be utilized as much as originally anticipated.

I would like to personally thank everyone that stepped up and helped take this campaign to a successful conclusion. Without the help of everyone who participated in my first year back as Poppy Chair would have been a lot harder. I would just like to say I am proud to be part of this community. It is humbling to know that people care and when I ask for help, they show up. Thank you each and every one of you. If I missed addressing anyone, it was not intentional. I appreciate all the help given.

Yours in Comradeship,
Christina Briggs
